Thermal conductivity and line expansion coefficient of silicon carbide

As a high quality refractory material, silicon carbide has superior thermal shock resistance. This is specifically reflected in its high thermal conductivity (thermally conductive coefficient) and a lower line expansion coefficient.
Generally, the thermal conductivity of the silicon carbide is 6.28 ~ 9.63W · m-1 · k-1. This value is about 4 times the corundum thermal conductivity.
Within 25 to 1400 ° C, the average line expansion coefficient of silicon carbide can be 4.4 × 10-6 k-1, and the linear expansion coefficient of the corundum is (7 to 8) × 10-6 k-1.
